ANOTHER BIRTHDAY IS COMING
The question is, are you looking forward to it? In the right retirement community, every day is worth looking forward to.

“Our birthdays go up, they don’t go down and you never can tell, you know, when you might be in need of a facility such as this. And why not join it while you’re able to participate while you’re independent.” – Clarice Dodge, resident of The Fountains at Lake Pointe Woods

MEET CLARICE DODGE, A FUN-LOVING RESIDENT WHO’S ALWAYS ON THE GO.
You can learn a lot from someone who has been in your shoes. Their honest insight can help you navigate your way to the place that’s right for you, regardless of which community you choose. (All quotes contained in this post are excerpts from an interview conducted with Clarice Dodge on Wednesday, May 6th, 2015. To read the full, un-edited transcript, please click here.)

Clarice is a retired elementary school teacher who loves English Bulldogs and hates shoveling snow. When her husband worked for the State Department, they lived in places like the Philippines and Gettysburg, PA. They retired to North Sarasota 28 years ago and today, she lives with her dog, Daisy, in a two-bedroom, two-bath villa at The Fountains at Lake Pointe Woods. Each day of Clarice’s life at The Fountains is filled with pursuits she thoroughly enjoys. She walks Daisy around the beautiful campus, dines with friends, travels to visit family, cooks for others and plays board games. She also attends exercise classes and lectures on government, works in the library, belongs to the book club and attends movie screenings.

YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW
Have you ever met people who make up their minds without knowing the facts? Those people probably won’t ever choose to move to a retirement community. And they’ll have no idea what they’re missing! If living well is important to you, then retirement community living is worth exploring. “I was a caregiver for someone that was in a similar situation and she would not move, refused to move and she was at the point where she could have made a choice and she would not. Then she had a fall and had to be put in a place where she was not happy and she lived there for three years. And she was just miserable. So I thought boy that’s a lesson to me to make the right decision while I can. And I made an excellent choice. I’m so happy here.” – Clarice Dodge

A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE
Many people wonder, will I fit in? Clarice has found fitting in easy, thanks to friendly neighbors at The Fountains. While she still drives herself to plenty of offsite activities, she also appreciates the availability of transportation should she ever need it. “I just love it here. I didn’t know a single soul when I came here but… everyone here is so active in so many things. They read, they participate in programs, they come from very interesting backgrounds and I did not have any trouble at all fitting in with them as far as being friendly. They’re just a great group of people. It’s just been a wonderful experience.” – Clarice Dodge

BOREDOM, NOT A CHANCE
Retirement community living may not be for everyone, her husband for one, but it suits Clarice to a tee. While he was still alive, she took her time to find just the right one. “There’s everything to do here. They have movies. If you like computers you can take courses on that, exercise classes, they have cookouts and classes on government and swimming, classes on Shakespeare, book clubs, writing groups. They even have Blackjack here. It’s just a great and interesting place to be. I really enjoy it here.” – Clarice Dodge
