New York. Peru. Norway. London. The places Jerrie has lived could fill a book. She met her husband, a petroleum engineer, on a blind date after graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Four weeks later, they were married! They enjoyed 55 years of marriage, raising four daughters. When retirement called, Siesta Key answered and they enjoyed more than 25 years together there. Today, Jerrie is proud to call The Fountains at Lake Pointe Woods home. Free from household chores, she has taken up painting again and was recently named Artist of the Month. She also enjoys beach picnics, making her own breakfast by choice, exercising three days a week, volunteering in the library and entertaining friends, new and old.

SARASOTA’S A GREAT PLACE TO THRIVE
You can do a lot worse than retire in a place like Sarasota, with its sunshine, restaurants, culture and wonderful people. Take all that and add to it a carefree retirement community lifestyle, and you’ve got it made. When you’re planning your best future, don’t sell yourself short. Be sure to look at all your options. “It’s just been wonderful for me because I have leisure time if I want it or I can be busy going to shows or opera or any one of the things that they have available here. Sarasota it’s just wonderful as far as things like that. They have wonderful theaters and also restaurants if you want to go out once in a while. I do go out with my kids occasionally. There’s just so much available. I think Sarasota is a wonderful place.” – Jerrie Weiss

HOUSEWORK IS FOR THE BIRDS
Jerrie knew that her children, three of whom live nearby, were concerned about her living alone. Weeding one day she said to herself, “This is for the birds.” She researched three “so-so” places before good friends she knew from Siesta Key invited her to dinner at The Fountains. She was favorably impressed with the place, the surroundings and the fact that there was so much to do. “I was in that big house and my daughters were all saying, ‘Mom, you don’t get out enough. You have to move somewhere where you can have more of a social life and meet people and do other things.'” – Jerrie Weiss

SMOOTH MOVE
Jerrie lucked out finding just the right residence and with the help of a senior relocation expert, packing and unpacking was a breeze. “I was looking for a place where I could display things and have enough room to move around in. I didn’t want to be in a tiny little place and I was very lucky that just then, when I was looking, a wonderful double apartment became available. And I have lots of room to move around in. It’s great.” – Jerrie Weiss
