This month’s featured artist is Donna Starnes. Donna started painting with acrylics as an adult with no formal training in art except art appreciation courses in college. She also had a longtime love of art. This year she ventured to try a few new techniques. One was a pair of portraits, done in a monochromatic scheme. In another, she used the computer to adjust a simple bouquet of tulips into a study of just two tulips to create a very contemporary style painting. The most interesting to her is a painting of a location she remembered from her childhood and it was painted just by memory. The end product, as seen on the bottom left, is a delightful recreation of her memories of a place from nearly eighty years ago.
