BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
In the right retirement community, you really can be independent while also feeling taken care of and not alone.
“Harvey and I both had a rough winter here and our friends were after us to move into someplace like this, a place where we would be taken care of and not alone.” – Betsy Hinrichs, resident of The Fountains at Lake Pointe Woods
MEET HARVEY AND BETSY HINRICHS, PRESTANCIA HOMEOWNERS FOR 24 YEARS BEFORE DISCOVERING SARASOTA’S HIDDEN GEM, THE FOUNTAINS AT LAKE POINTE WOODS.
You can learn a lot from someone who has been in your shoes. Their honest insight can help you navigate your way to the place that’s right for you, regardless of which community you choose. (All quotes contained in this post are excerpts from an interview conducted with Harvey and Betsy Hinrichs on Wednesday, November 8th, 2017. Having enjoyed careers in special education, training for a national corporation and patient advocacy, Betsy retired to Sarasota and fell in love with opera. Having sold his manufacturing business in Wisconsin, her husband Harvey was happy playing golf while Betsy found joy volunteering for the Opera Guild. In 2017, they decided to sell their large home to enjoy close-knit friendships and worry-free living at The Fountains, about a mile away. They share their comfortable one-bedroom residence with their Westie Highland Terrier, Toby. Toby loves watching the world go by from his patio perch. Harvey golfs at Prestancia three days a week while Betsy now volunteers on the hospitality committee at The Fountains.
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Experts say being present, or living in the moment, is the only way to enjoy life to the fullest. But there is one exception. In order to live fully throughout your retirement years, you must envision the future and situate yourself in a suitable place where worries about “what if” won’t interfere with everyday enjoyment of life. By mindfully exploring your retirement living options today, you can give yourself and your family the greatest gift: Peace of Mind for all the years ahead. “Somebody has to consider, if something happened to one of us, our kids are all up north so who is going to help take care of the one that is left? So, anyway, by making this move ourselves and selling our home, it saves them a big headache sometime in the future.” – Harvey Hinrichs, resident of The Fountains at Lake Pointe Woods
INSURED AGAINST LONELINESS
Betsy and Harvey drove by The Fountains nearly every day for 24 years before realizing its guard-gated entry was neatly hidden from view at 41 and Beneva. After just one visit to the 53-acre park-like campus, they decided to make it their home. They’ve made great friends and take comfort from the knowledge that no matter what the future holds, neither of them will ever have to be alone. “As I sit here looking at our little place, you know, I’m very satisfied and it’s a good feeling to know that physically, if we need help, it’s right around the corner. And if Harvey were to, God forbid, leave me then I’d be comfortable here.” – Betsy Hinrichs
UNRIVALED FOR ITS BEAUTY
Harvey appreciates the well-kept grounds and thinks the roomy campus is by far the prettiest in town. “It’s 53 acres which is kind of nice. It’s got a lot of room to walk our dogs and stuff. It seems like the trend now is going more to high-rise type buildings as opposed to spread out on a big campus like this one is.” – Harvey Hinrichs
