At The Fountains, we are enriched by extraordinarily talented resident artists. Stepping out from behind his camera lens this month is Jules Altenberg. Jules was tucked away in his father’s darkroom starting at the age of 12. After assisting with the development process, he decided it was time to purchase his own 35 mm camera. Throughout high school, Jules was the go to photographer for the newspaper and yearbook. Jules continued this work at the University of Illinois for the Daily Illini Newspaper. He gained a fascination with capturing the detail of every frame he snapped. After the years he spent on the newspaper staff in school, Jules was finally able to have his own darkroom. In the last 15 years, Jules has switched to digital photography. Which photo below do you think shows the most detail?
